While Driving

September 22
It was the clearest day I have seen for a long, long time.  When I was driving home on the Middle Ring Road, I saw beautiful clouds in the horizon just above the hills in Melawati. They looked so white and fluffy. If they are solid enough, I would love to snuggle up amongst them.
While keeping one eye on the road to make sure I don't end up on the other side of the road, I kept the other on the cloud formations. Do you know, how it is to make shapes out of them? When I was young, my brother and I used to take a blanket out to the garden to lie down and look at the sky. Somehow, in those days, the sun does not seem to feel so hot. We used to tell each other what kind of shapes we saw. He will tell me, "Hey! That's a rabbit". Sometimes I would reply it looked more like an elephant to me.
My point is, we all look at things a different way. It's who we are and how we choose to look at things and situations. We can choose to be pessimistic and look at situations bleakly or we can choose to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. If I am in a rut, I wallow in it for a while (hey, I AM human) . Then, I try to look at it from a different sort of angle. It does not always work but it does make life a little more interesting.
I was behind a lorry a few years ago on the LDP. Hanging from the back of the lorry  was a piece of plastic flapping about. I think  it was remnant of some wrapping from an electrical product. The lorry was probably transporting rubbish to be thrown away. When that bit of plastic flapped,  it caught the sun-rays. Suddenly, that bit of rubbish transformed. It became the most beautiful strip of colour I have ever seen. I was so fascinated by it, I almost followed the lorry to wherever it was going.
There is absolutely no moral to this post. Just some things I have observed while driving and generally glad that I could see the sky again after weeks of haze.
If there is a moral, perhaps if would be to look for beauty in all things. If a bit of plastic on its way to the dump could be so beautiful, everything else could be too. We just need to look for the beauty. Almost like how we will squint and look at the clouds and see shapes. They are actually the shapes that WE want them to be. How we choose to look at situations and react to them is entirely left to us.
