Middle-earth Revisited

For the past few days, I revisited Middle-earth and travelled through dangerous terrains in the quest to destroy the Ring.

I cannot recall how many times I have watched The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) During those 3 years when each of the movie was coming out in succession, I watched the previous one again, before going to the cinema for the current episode.

I used to think that I like the Fellowship best but after much thought, each has its own flavour and each is as good as the other - I cannot choose. When one watches it again, one sees certain minor details that were missed before.

Through this round of LOTR, one thing struck me, well, I mean it was very evident before but somehow, it was perhaps, the only thing that was ringing in my head. If there's anything I wish of LOTR, it will be a friend like Samwise Gamgee. He is faithful, loyal and a true friend who stuck through thick and thin.

There were so many bits I shed tears, watching faithful Sam swimming(drowning) when he went after Frodo, Denethor denying Faramir, and who can forget "I can't carry it for you....but I can carry you"

Of course there were light moments of Gimli and Legolas, Treebeard and the Ents, Merry and Pippin. Then there were triumphant moments when the ghost army swept through the land and killed the enemy and when Eowyn killed a Nazgul because she is not a man.

The book is up for another round of read. Meantime, I think The Force is soon to be upon me again. A round of Star Wars IV, V, VI is due.
