Chicken Massacre

Today I went to the market. Bought so much stuff, I thought my fingers will tear off from the sheer weight. I took so long the clear everything and put them away into the fridge/ larder and all various other places that it threw my schedule way off.

I bought 3 chickens, asked the chicken lady to skin and halfed them. I needed them for chicken essence for both mum and my sick friend. I HATE making chicken essence.  No actually, what I HATE is the fact that I have to chop and break the bones so that the marrow juices will come out during the double-boiling. It is the most hideous sound the cracking of the bones. Most of the time, I sort of close my eyes (trying to block out the ccrackk!??) Well, I know, if I want to block out a sound, I should close my ears but that's not possible, one hand on the chopper and the other, trying to hold a slippery piece of wet chicken. So three chickens had a lot of bones to crack *eew*.

Wookie also chose to sit right beside me during the massacre so I had to make sure I hold the chopper doubly hard, in case it slips out of my hand. Such a strain. No wonder my arms aches now. So there I was chop, chop, chopping away (with eyes closed as much as possible). Then, I had to slice the liver. I don't really mind the slicing bit but I can't stand the smell of liver GROSS! When Alison was young, she was anaemic and it was recommended that I make liver porridge for her. I can still remember the stench that engulfed the whole house.Being a chemist.   So this morning I had to do 2 of the most disgusting cooking stuff in the world. When I was done, I reached out to get something from the cabinet on the top. And I suddenly saw IT! THE MESS! The cabinets, below the cabinets and the wall were splattered with blood and marrow! This is what happens when you close your eyes to work. You end up making mess. It took me a long time to clean up because they had dried up. If CSI were to come and spray my kitchen with that luminal thingy now, I'll bet it will look very colourful.

How can you close your eyes and chop stuff at the same time? That's scary!

sad :(
cant imagine u doing the impossible.
i must agree with wanZ.
i remembered seeing one of the episodes of Jamie Oliver's Italian cooking and he was so pathetic! he couldnt bring himself to slaughter a lamb (in front of the camera). he maybe a great cook but..
*your next mission, ms. katy, shld u decide to accept, is to buy a live chicken home and slaughter it, skin it i.e. remove feathers, gut it, etc, etc.* sounds like a fear factor challenge for you leh!
