I need a new back

Saturday morning. Alarm rang. Laid in bed for a few minutes running the whole day schedule ahead of me. Things I want to do with each class, plans etc.

I swung my legs out of bed and proceded to get up. Suddenly, I felt excruciating pain on my lower back. WHAT HAPPENED!  I have lived with pain in my back for so long so it's normal to feel pain, but this is much 'pain-er', VERY MUCH 'pain-er'. Being an optimistic person, I told myself, "never mind, after a hot shower it will  surely loosen up".

So I hit the showers but it did not improve the situation. I had to drop my underwear on the floor, sit at the edge of my bed and step into them! I got quite worried. It felt a lot like the 1st time my disc slipped. Still, I was optimistic - eat something and then pop a Voltaren. That'll do the trick

That did not work either. With a long day of work ahead of me, I had to re-work my plans. Can't teach new stuff, have to minimise movements. By 11AM, I cannot 'tahan' anymore. Called Andrew to pick me up at 12. I went to the doctor and took an injection. That was supposed to subside the pain within half an hour but it still persisted two hours after that! All it did was make me sleepy. By 4PM, I could not go on. "Bee Hong, please take over. I MUST lie down"

Lie down, I did and by 7PM, I felt much better. We went out for dinner. When we got back, I made myself a cup of coffee. Stupid mistake. That cup of coffee kept me awake for the whole night and right through the whole of the next day. But my back needed sleep to get better so last night, right after dinner, I took something to help me sleep and got a whole 12 hour full.

What's wrong with my back? It's probably the degenerated disc moving about and it pinched a nerve or something. Probably happened during the night before while I was sleeping. Maybe I was doing some of those Advanced 2 work which I was teaching the day before. I don't know. Maybe I just need to go to a spare parts shop and shop for a new back. Now, wouldn't that be nice?

Hmm... Hopefully the industry I am in will be able to generate new discs for patients... sometime in the near future. For teacher Katy's sake. :)
