Drama Minggu Ini

On Monday night, after a long day teaching, I settled down to watch Dexter Patrick introduced this series to me with the words, "Katy, I am sure you will like this" And yup, I did. I like it so much that last week, I watched the whole season in less than a day!

Then, as I was getting very near to the end, the final revelation, does he die? will he be discovered? will he commite sucide? will he try to orchestrate his own murder?.....................loads of intruguing questions, when, my phone rang. It was nearly 2AM I remember looking at the cloak and thinking to myself, ' Oh no, not good. It's either an overseas call or.................'

Then I saw "MUM" on the caller ID. My knees went wobbly. Then Dad spoke, "Thing" (my Chinese name) Knees turned into jelly because Dad will not call unless it's an emergency. "Mummy fell down" That's when my knees liquefied. Then he told me the details. So I asked him, what he wants me to do. "Nothing, just to keep you informed"

How does my Dad expect me to go to bed and not worry? So I went upstairs, changed and got into the car. The beauty about driving so late at night is the lack of traffic. I was at my parents' place in less than 20 minutes. Even the lift knows my urgency. It usually malfunctions and go up to the 6th floor before coming back down to the 4th, where my parents live. But on that night, it stopped at the 4th.

When I got there, Mum was mumbling incoherently about her clothes not being straight. I had no idea what she meant. I thought, perhaps when she fell, she dislocated soemething. But after checking, she seemed fine. She kept standing up, and wobbled a lot which was worrying. Dad didn't know what to do. We thought it was the bump on the head that made her act so strangely. Then Dad had an idea. He tested her blood glucose level and it was dipping to 2.2!

Solution? Easy, a very sweet drink. It took me ages to get her to drink it all. But after half an hour, she asked me, "What time is it?"

"3 o'clock"

"What happened?" She has no recollection of her fall in the bathroom and the whole incident where Dad tried to get her back into bed. She did not know I was there.

"All I remember was getting ready to go to bed. I had the most curious dream. I dreamt that my body was not straight"

Dad concluded she may, perhaps, have taken her insulin injections twice by mistake.

*Sigh* what a drama. I hate phone calls in the middle of the night.

Actually, I think she's healthier than me. Her lifestyle is really something to try.
