Living in The Twilight Zone
Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 10:33AM Owning a cellphone is a norm these days. I have been using one for, er............... long, long time. I began with something that was analog based ( I think) and my phone got cloned time and time again. Calls to faraway exotic places were made. So then I switched over to another service provider.
I had been on the 'Green Band' for ages, at least 10 years. It served me very well but in the past year, I had been experiencing problems. There will be loud interference and I can't hear the person on the other line! That was when I was still staying in my old place.
When I moved, it got worse, I can't hear a thing! The reception here is SO BAD!. Soon, people stopped calling me. It was frustration for all parties concerned. The worst hit area is my kitchen, where I spend a lot of my time. The computer is also in 'ground zero'.
Here's a typical phone conversation (of lack of it!)
Me: Hello?
Other person (OP): Hello? Hello? Hello?
Me: YES! I CAN HEAR YOU!
OP: HELLO???????
Me: YES! I IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE ( aka my home) SPEAK!
OP: (muttering to him or herself- reception so lousy)
Me:HELLO! HELLO? HELLO? 'toooooooooooooooot" Phone got cut off!
I made a complaint to the Green Band. Their customer service called me back. So I asked him, "So when are they going to improve reception in this area?"
"Sorry, Maam, we do not know!"
Enough is enough. I decided to 'jump ship'
The only other option for me is the Blue Band. Everything else is just 'sucky'
So Patrick and I went over to do the necessary paperwork last week. He too, has had enough.
4 days after that, I received this message;
"We acknowledge your request to move. Thank you for being with us and we hope to serve you again in the future"
*Gulp* A lump in my throat. A reply to my 'Dear John' action. I felt as if I am losing a friend. A few minutes after that I was disconnected.
Now, I am with the Blue Band. I stood at 'Ground Zero' and I can make calls!
I am no longer living in The Twilight Zone. I have moved into the light!
